How to Keep Your Beginning Sewer Busy During Summer Break | Beginner Sewing Tutorials

I have had the good fortune to work with some really sweet beginning sewers.  But I worry when they leave my studio they won't have a project to work on or anyone at home to help them so they'll let their sewing hobby slip to the wayside.  It doesn't have to be that way though - the web is full of great tutorials, perfectly suited to the beginning sewer.

I love the blog Skip To My Lou and use a few of her tutorials as projects for my beginners.  Her Totebag Tutorial teaches some great base skills - making handles, topstitching and creating a reversible project. Plus, once you make your first totebag, you can adapt the instructions to make any size bag you like. You can get creative and add pockets and other embellishments too!
