Fashion Sewing Camp | Day 1 | A First Sewing Project
This is my second year teaching summer camp at St. Francis Community Center in Raleigh. Sewing is definitely coming back into vogue - as witnessed by a doubled camp enrollment from last year! So what makes a good project for a vivacious group of first time sewers?
Blooming headbands in Peacock and Soft Lilac at Fashion Sewing Camp
Why, Blooming Headbands of course! This great beginner project uses sharp scissors, felt, headbands, beads, thread, needle and a glue gun. With a bit of sewing guidance, these campers stitched together their first project in about 90 minutes. Impressive!
Blooming headband - cute enough to wear back to Camp Day 2!
We also created Vision Boards. Each girl cut and pasted pictures from fashion magazines and catalogs onto colorful scrapbook paper. Then they took to the Fashion Hotseat where they presented their Board to the group. Using their Vision Board and the observations of the other campers - we discovered each other's Signature Colors.
Watch this spot each day this week to see our camp creations.
Tomorrow, we are working on Spring Bling Rings and Folded Flower Pins.
