Sewing Camp Day 4: Now We're Cooking! (Summer 2013)

When many people think of sewing, they think of quilters. Most people don't know that quilters range many age groups
and skill levels. So I definitely felt like quilting had it's place at camp!
Quilting involves joining 3 pieces of fabric together into a sandwich. This sandwich consists of a layer of patterned cotton fabric, a thick center layer and a plain bottom layer. The quilting stitches travel through the three layers holding them together so they don't shift around.

At camp, we quilted potholders. Our layers were cotton, heat resistant batting and felt. Some of the stitching was fancy - spirals and stars, others a quick running stitch. But every potholder was unique and crafted from the heart!
